Short Breaks / Winter Breaks
We are open all year round and have many return visitors staying by the week. With our new indoor heated swimming pool for our guests to enjoy all year round, Winter breaks at Home Farm are becoming more and more popular.
Between November and May at Home Farm we do a special, great value, "short break" package (excluding school holidays) from £200 to £420, depending on the cottage:
- a “Friday to Monday” break (3 nights)
- a “Monday to Friday” midweek break (4 nights)
We are also open for Xmas & New Year.
The Attractions of North Norfolk Off-Season
This area is quite different in the winter and spring months. Not only is it quieter and more peaceful, but there are different things to enjoy (family-specific possibilities, below).
The winter months can be very cosy. Short days, pub lunches, gentle strolls, a bottle of wine in the evening warming by the wood burner.
Birdwatching in the autumn and spring comes alive on the salt marshes at Salthouse and Cley.
Attractions in the run up to Christmas
The run up to Christmas is a busy time:
- Holt Christmas Lights are switched on in the last week in November. Coach parties come from far and wide to see the fantastic display, and to do last minute shopping in Holt.
- Our regulars link this with the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. This is a big variety performance, which runs during November and December. It is extremely popular and rivals West End productions, so you must get a ticket early.
- The new Christmas Seaside Special at the Cromer Pier Theatre.
- Santa Special's are magical for children under 8. The North Norfolk Railway run special trains to visit Santa in his grotto at Weybourne. Price includes a mince pie, drink and present for the children.
- The North Norfolk Railway also run several specials throughout the year including 1940’s weekends - if dressed up, you ride the train for free - Murder Mystery nights, and Thomas the Tank Engine weekends.
Attractions after Christmas
After the festive season the area quietens down. This is the perfect time to get away from everything and enjoy the beautiful walks through the heath and woodland, as well as on the coastal paths.
Lazy pub lunches and strolling around the unique shops and boutiques in Holt and Sheringham without the crowds that the peak weeks bring.
Valentines Day Get-aways
Why not book a cottage to treat your loved one over Valentines? There are several excellent restaurants to choose from making a lovely romantic weekend break. Flowers and champagne can be ordered, if you let us know beforehand.
Family entertainment off-season
Entertaining the family can be a concern when coming off-season. However this area has lots of possibilities. To name just a few ...
- the Splash Leisure pool at Sheringham with its wave machine and flume makes an enjoyable family outing
- Cromer Multiplex with the latest movies shown daily
- Doodle Pots (Holt) or the Sticky Earth Café (Cromer) where you can all decorate ceramic plates or figures over coffee and cake
- There are also several children’s indoor play centres locally
- 3 steam railways at Sheringham, Wells and Alysham.
